River's nickname in the whelping box was "Stinky Pinky". She was a happy and ornery young lass with a hot pink collar color that went to go live in Lemon Cove, CA. Due to one of her owners needing spinal surgery, she stayed out of the show ring to grow up and watch over her owner's recovery. Her first weekend back in the ring after a year's hiatus, River was awarded Winners Bitch and Best of Winners at the Del Sur Kennel Club in March 2015 under judges Mr.Steven Gladstone and Mr. Merle Taylor. In May 2015, River was awarded Winners Bitch at the Mt. Palomar Kennel Club for 2 points under judge Mrs. Linda Riedel and the following weekend she was awarded Winners Bitch for a 3 point major under judge Mrs. Barbara Dempsey Alderman at the San Gabriel Kennel Club during the SCBdFC Supported Entries at the Mission Circuit. Later that year, River won the Bred By Exhibitor class and Best Bred By Exhibitor at both the 2015 ABdFC National Specialty and the Rocky Mountain Bouvier des Flandres Club regional specialty in Loveland, Colorado and finished her championship going Winners Bitch and Best of Winners in December 2015 in Costa Mesa at the Malibu Kennel Club under judge Dr. Dana Massey.
After another hiatus from the ring to have a small litter of two puppies in May 2016 and to recover from maternity leave, River went back to the show ring in August 2017 with handler Moira Hanley-Cornell. After a month of learning how to be a "show pony" again, at the SCBdFC Specialty the day after our 2017 National Specialty, River was awarded an Award of Merit.
River was owned by John & Diane Thomas, co-owned by Rod and Pilar, and lived in the foothills of the Sierra-Nevadas. She also lived with Scotties, chickens, guinea fowl, and loved to pretend to herd the goats that were kept in their goat pen. She had 3 small litters and we are thankful that her daughter Delaney welcomed 3 puppies into the world in February 2023 to carry on River's legacy.
We are thankful we have this pretty girl to show and we look forward to many more successes in and out of the ring with her.
